Serving food insecure families suffering from food allergies

Food insecurity is the struggle to avoid hunger. Not knowing where your next meal will come from. Your access to adequate food is limited by a lack of money and other resources. When someone in your family – especially a child – suffers from food allergies – the situation is even worse.

Our Programs

AllergyStrong is committed to developing programs that bring maximum impact to those most at risk. It is well established that minorities and the economically disadvantaged have higher incidence of food insecurity and food allergies –  as well as more limited access to the resources required to diagnose, understand, and deal with these often deadly conditions.  Our programs look to address those issues:

We provide educational programs and resources to those who provide services to at risk populations: schools, health care providers, religious institutions, community organizations, as well as state and local governments.  We also provide online resources, research, data and action plans directly to families.

We actively work with federal, state and local governments  to ensure there is an awareness and appreciation of the severity of these issues that impact many in their communities – and to make certain the laws, policies and regulations being enacted are reflective of that.

We actively engage communities through food banks, food drives, community events and other activities “on the ground” that provide direct support to those who most need it. A prominent aspect of our outreach is the AllergyStrong “Ambassador” program – a vehicle through which advocates and volunteers are trained and empowered to amplify our mission in their communities.

To eat is a necessity, but to eat intelligently is an art
